Bio

My name is Ja' Net.
I am 17 as of now, and I will be 18 come March 23rd.
I greatly anticipate that day since it means I won't have to get on the list to get into certain shows.
I go to James Madison and I hate it.
It's crawling with idiots and undereducated morons, but that's just how life is in general now a days I guess.
Graduation = May 30th
Oh yeah, I'm on myspace/friendster with my LJ email address, add me if you like, but you might want to read this first... or just read my LJ to make sure we won't completely clash.

I am a very untrusting person.
I have issues with people.
Problems with getting stabbed in the back by just about everyone I know.
If you are female, the chances of our getting along are about 1/2 what they would be if you were male.
Don't ask me why, but that's just how it is.
Guys are easier to get along with and more fun to be around.
I have a hard time getting to a point where I consider most people a friend... it all links back to my trust issues and my childhood, but that's just how life is. In other words if I consider you a friend, and express that to you, it's an honor.
If I tell you that I consider you a really good friend, I mean it, and that basically means I'd put my ass on the line for you, feel special.
For me to trust you, I have to respect you.
Earning my respect if difficult.
Live with it.

I hate writing bios, it seems like I'm supposed to sit here and build myself up.
That's not my thing.
Besides, I always end up rambling about things no one else cares about.
I'm a very complex person apparently.
One person will tell you that I am amicable, and the next person will tell you that I am a cold hearted bitch.
One person will tell you that I am the easiest person they've ever met to be themselves around, and another person will tell you I intimidate the hell out of them and they're afraid to do anything around me because I may tell them what I really think.
That's very possible, I do tell people "what I really think" but it's typically not as bad as they think it will be.
No matter what people think of me though, they always find it easy to talk to me.
People constantly open their hearts to me and pour out their souls.
They ask advice, they shed tears, they seek affirmation.
I provide facts, kleenex, and kind consoling words of confidence.

I don't believe in love.
I've been burned.
Repeatedly.
And from what I've experienced personally and seen around me, it's not worth the hassel.
I don't believe in "God".
Once again, chalk it up to life experience.

I tend to share my views with those who seem to be open enough or willing enough to listen, but those people are few and far between, and are often flakes.
I dislike homophobic individuals.
I dislike bigots.
I dislike liars.
I dislike people who are handed everything in life and don't have to earn it.
Most of all, I dislike Bush, it just happens to be coincidence that he fits all the previously mentioned terms.

I live for the music in my life.
I decided back in November that I was changing my major and school of choice.
Political Science + Psych/Soc @ UT
Radio/Television/Film @ SAC
Hell of a change considering I've been anticipating life in Austin for over 3 years....
I realized Poli Sci and Psych/Soc wouldn't ever provide me with any form of joy in life and didn't have a damn thing to do with any sort of job that I'd like to have, so I allowed reason to get the better of me and decided that SAC would be more advantageous considering my interests in life and my financial state of being.

I live for music.
All music.
Maybe not all music, but most music.
Willie Nelson, Hank Sr/Jr/III, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Audioslave, Beastie Boys, Garth Brooks, No Doubt, The Distillers, Dropkick Murphys, Rancid, Big Bad VooDoo Daddies, Green Day, Sublime, RHCP, Aerosmith, KISS, Classic Metallica..... the list goes on and on and on.
The only shit I really can't stand is Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, Good Charlotte (although they do get to me at times), etc...
I love live music.
I've seen one band play live that I can't stand, and that is a local band.
I support the local "scene" (I hate that term) as much as I can.
I love going to the shows and watching the people. All the scenesters and wannabe scenesters, all the people who try too hard, and the occassional person who is genuine, and doesn't put on an act...
Most scenesters annoy the hell out of me with their damn tshirts and scarves in 70 degree weather, but that's their choice.
I love the way they look at everyone who isn't dressed to fit in as though they don't belong. It makes me happy to know that they're sitting there thinking I don't belong there when chances are that I have more of a clue about the real world, and the people playing than they do.
Did I mention that I'm very cynical, sarcastic, and brutally honest?
I enjoy meeting new people at shows.
Lately I've been meeting a lot of new people and making a lot of new "friends" (I put that in quotes because my cynicism doesn't allow me to consider people friends as quickly as I'd like to be able to)... but either way, I enjoy it, it makes me happy.
I have a few local favorites, and that list grows ever so slowly. (Natchet Taylor, Born To Lose, Red Reverse, Rubberhed, 42MD, The Teliskas, Kryonic, Losing Streak *who will soon be making their comeback*, Los Skarnales, and others)
Having typed up those local bands, I realize now that I know at least one person in each of them, usually more... I wonder if that has something to do with my love of them haha... of course the only two bands I knew people from prior to seeing them play are The Teliskas and Natchet Taylor, so suppose that had nothing to do with it after all.
The vast majority of my CDs are those of local bands that I thought were worthy of my support.
The only radio station I listen to is KSYM.
I love college radio.
Check it out 90.1 FM.

I told you I always ramble in these things....
I'll leave you with this closing quote,

I'm tough, I'm ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay.
~Madonna Ciccone
